Grows best in light, well-drained, fertile soil. Has purple colored new growth. Has fragrant flower.
     An Acacia baileyana in Gilroy is registered as a California Big Tree. It measures 46 feet high, with a trunk circumference of 115 inches and a crown spread of 65 feet.
